How is Marty? What's wrong? I have a bunch of stories from the early 70's when I lived upstairs at 2nd and Idaho with my girlfriend, and he lived downstairs with his, and we'd go surfing up to Hollywood by the Sea, Stanleys, Hoshi, The Cove, etc. He was surfing royalty and, being his buddy made me same by association. We'd surf directly in front of bluff at spot he annointed "Arnold's Reef." On the morning of the Sylmar earthquake, I ran downstairs and pounded on his door, "Mary, let's go surf the tidal wave!"
